Jimmy Choo was recently purchased for the substantial sum of 570m euros which is approximately $697m. Christian Louboutin has an estimated personal wealth of $85m. Carrie Bradshaw on ‘Sex and the City‘ was robbed by a guy who didn’t want her money, he just wanted her Manolos’. Is there any arguing about the fact that we love our designer shoes? The fact is, shoe designer Manolo Blahnik‘s fortune started multiplying everytime his name was mentioned on ‘Sex and the City’. His shoes would literally fly off the shelves all over the US!  Even when Manolo Blahnik  uterred those now infamous words ‘I hate celebrities, I want people with style to wear my shoes’ it didn’t stop the rich and famous from amassing huge collections of his fabulous creations.

Collecting high end designer brand shoes has become much more main stream, they’re not just for the wealthy anymore. Nowadays women in New York will consider foregoing a cab and walking to work or brown bagging it for a few weeks in order to buy those precious red bottomed Louboutins.

The fact of the matter is, there is now a huge trade in pre-owned designer shoes (lightly loved of course). If you buy a pair of almost new Louboutins you can save hundreds of dollars and I’ve heard that certain shoes repair shops in the city and other places will re-paint the bottoms for you.

Go on, throw caution to the wind, consider pre-owned luxury, I have and it’s just as fabulous!

Close your eyes and imagine a delicious cocktail, a mojito perhaps, that syrupy mint infused treat cooling and calming on a blistering summers day. When this is perfectly paired with a gorgeous emerald and diamond cocktail ring, ahh yes, a cocktail and a cocktail. Halle Berry and Oliver Martinez recently admitted that they were engaged and an emerald ring sealed the deal. Oliver decided to forgo the usual diamond sparkler and had a 4 carat emerald ring surrounded by diamonds, designed for Halle. We heard that it was a one of a kind ring  with the emerald mined in Muzo Columbia where you don’t see a lot of pre-owned jewelry. Wow, after the custody battle Halle Berry has been going through with her ex, what’s his name the model, I’m sure that this was a great pick me up. Plus, it’s a stunningly gorgeous emerald ring and I’m pretty sure, well worth the wait.

So Long Chumlee…

Well, the time has come where my opportunities to write about Chumlee must come to an end. While I was a bit critical at times of that lovable fuzz ball, he taught some lessons that are lifelong and sustainable for anyone out there. Briefly, I would like to revisit a few of them as reminders for us all that life does not have to be a daily disappointment.

Austin (Chumlee) Russell has only been in the public eye for about four years or so. He comes to us with a simple and innocent approach to life. Being a friend of the Harrison family for a very long time, Chumlee has developed into a person who understands that you do what you can and don’t worry about what is out of your control. He is repeatedly given a hard time by his ‘family’ at The Gold and Silver Pawn Shop where Pawn Stars is filmed. Even so, he takes it all in stride.

Chumlee may stand alone at times, but he will never be alone in life.

Does he feel pressure? Of course he does, but what he does about those impressions is where he separates himself from so many. Not to put him on a pedestal, but this man will not overwhelm his schedule or his life with complications that only serve to create more stress or disappointments. He is the kind of guy who would give his shirt off of his back to help someone. He is also one who will get as much out of life as possible.

Philosophically, he and I differ when it comes to lifestyle choices and such, but basic concepts of living life we agree on. He has a better grasp on life than what most of us think. In fact, he may not even realize just how smart he is. Mr. Chumlee, thanks for the opportunities and showing the world that we are all human. Good luck on your future with Pawn Stars, I hope the ride continues for as long as you and the Harrisons can manage. All my best for your future endeavors!

It’s Official, Chumlee Is Most Popular Pawn Star

Not that anyone is counting or taking vote, but the ratings and popularity of the Pawn Stars has dramatically increased for its 5th season. The amount of coverage the History Channel gives the cast of this pawn shop show through advertising and previews gives some indication of what is bringing in the bucks. It goes without saying that a large portion of the credit goes to the “Chumlee Effect”. All of you who are enamored with him have contributed to his fame over the past four years or so.

He does not do anything that is all that notable other than being himself. Of course, that can be a lot for anyone to take in any given episode. There is such a thing as too much Chumlee. I think Rick, Corey, and Richard (The Old Man) Harrison can attest to that. However, it would be hard to deny that there is something likable about this big lug. He has a certain charm and innocence about him that you may have a difficult time believing could possible exist. He gets under your skin in a good way that creates this draw that so many can’t seem to let go of.

Chumlee loves his fans and they love him. Honestly, he is probably one of the easiest guys to get to know and hang out with.

Whether you love Chumlee or can’t take another second of him, he can be addicting. Just waiting for the next group of words to come out of his mouth is enough anticipation that keeps you glued to the TV. Before you know it, you will have seen several episodes looking for that special “moment” when he spews his two cents worth. It is at that moment that you realize he is who he is and nothing will change that. It really does not appear to matter to him that what he says most of the time just does not make sense when it comes to working the counter. However, he has made some surprising decisions that amazed even Rick Harrison. It is those bright spots that gives everyone hope that Chumlee will actually be a successful negotiator like Rick and Corey…okay, that is a stretch, but it never hurts to be optimistic!
